Mama Dr. Consoler Wilbert, New Hope for Girls Organization
Tanzania 🇹🇿
Meet Mama Dr. Consoler
Mama Dr. Consoler Wilbert and her supportive husband and partner, Eliya Wilbert, provide a healing home for marginalized and vulnerable girls and young women in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Informed by her own childhood and the abuse she experienced as a girl, Consoler has devoted herself to helping others escape the same experiences. When she and Eliya married, she already had 7 girls living with her and was advocating for systemic change at the local government level. Consoler established the New Hope for Girls Organization (NHGO) in 2010.
A brilliant leader and advocate, Consoler has earned a PhD in Social Work with an emphasis in family dynamics and domestic violence. She is also addressing the systemic issues that underlie the societal abuse of girls, by working in collaboration with and training law enforcement authorities, raising awareness of school administrators, advocating for changes in legislation, and bringing new healthy theological teaching to church leaders. In addition to the girls and young women taken into their home and family, Consoler and Eliya are a safety net and resource for hundreds of girls across the city. Together, they work to meet a multitude of needs with wise, loving, and joyful spirits.
About New Hope for Girls
New Hope for Girls is a loving and healing home for over 60 girls rescued from modern slavery, abandonment, child marriage, and other forms of gender-based violence. Girls and young women are given stability, structure, and encouragement. Consoler has established a unique structure and family culture that assures each girl is known, loved, and included.
NHGO creates opportunities for girls to rediscover hope and laughter, and be equipped with education and life skills to build independence. The home remarkably reverberates with laughter and joy, and flows with peace and order, a testament to the commitment to healing and hope that Consoler and Eliya embody and model for others.

NHGO is currently looking for funding partners to join in these strategic areas of growth and
profound impact:
- Forever Home – Invest in the Capital Campaign for a well-designed home and training center for New Hope for Girls. The long-time dream of the New Hope for Girls family, and the next step in their journey toward financial self-sufficiency, is the construction of a ‘Forever Home’ for their bustling household. Currently, the family rents a four-bedroom house in Dar es Salaam, which is bursting at the seams. A parcel of land for a new house has been purchased, and architectural designs for a ‘Forever Home’ have been finalized. The preliminary and first phase of construction have been completed as well as substructure and foundations. This house will be well-equipped to serve the family and their unique needs, which means more energy and capacity for Consoler and Eliya to support the girls and young women in their home, and space and stability to bring peace of mind and joy to the entire family.
Visit Forever Home page for more details - Education – As the girls and young women in the NHGO home grow up, NHGO strives to provide every opportunity for each of them to pursue their passions and calling through the training and education necessary to launch successful futures. Support for primary and secondary education is essential. Additionally, funding for university education and vocational training opportunities is an integral part of the work to see each girl equipped to follow her dreams and live independently.
- Household Expenses – Nutritious food for 70 people a day, household supplies, electricity, internet, essential personal hygiene products (soap, sanitary napkins etc) are ongoing needs for the large household.
- Operational Support – NHGO is seeking to increase unrestricted support, which is foundational to expanding their work by covering operational expenses and strengthening the organization.
