VICOBA Plus – Changing hearts, minds, and savings accounts
VICOBA Plus is the brainchild of David Clemy, an Ugandan leader helping to transform communities across Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, and DRC Goma. In partnership with African Road, this training has equipped women, men, and youth with saving, banking, and business tools.
It does more than teaches life skills, it changes mindsets. The magic of VICOBA Plus is that it helps people to dream bigger, to move beyond a mindset of ‘need’ to a focus on what they already have available to them. This shift results in empowerment, positive attitudes, bigger and better savings and real change in the lives of communities and individuals.
From Loneliness to Empowerment
Marie Louise can now pay fees for her children. Marie Louise shared her journey from loneliness to empowerment through the skills and mindset shift she gained through VICOBA Plus.
After joining VICOBA Plus, she learned to manage the resources provided by her husband, saving money to buy 10 chicks. The sale of her chickens has allowed her to purchase a goat, and she now sells eggs to fund her children’s education, aspiring to support them all the way to university.
